Medicaid expansion

Apparently, proponents of Medicaid expansion to benefit the working poor have thrown in the towel. Given the overall makeup of the shameful and shameless Missouri General Assembly, this is understandable. Still, this reflects as poorly on our state since anything following our achievement of statehood in 1821.

Ready for softball

With spring training well underway, adult softball players are readying for the season opener today. This season promises to be among the most competitive and exciting ever. If you're not a player, join me and other legions of people who enjoy the atmosphere, concessions and, of course, top-notch games. See you at Shawnee Park!

Train improvements

Many thanks to all the wonderful workers who fixed, so beautifully, the badly broken railroad crossing in Jackson. Who great it is not to have our giblets jiggled or our brains scrambled as we proceed smoothly through the prisine intersection. To the Speak Out grouch who recently objected to the repairs: Eat a bug!
