Last respects

I think the law is wrong when an inmate's parents die and they can't go to the funeral or visit before they die. Where is the law there? I think any child locked up should be able to pay their last respects to their parents. The law just stinks.

Riverfront walk

I wanted to speak out about the riverfront property that is supposed to be a pleasurable walk downtown where the murals are and by the river. We do that every weekend, and I am upset about people with their pets who run in that area, poop all over the area, and they do not pick it up. It stinks. And beer bottles and cans that are left out from parties are bad, too. Something needs to be done. People should be more respectful of public areas and other people.

Liberal spending

This is what liberal politics will do to a community. It was announced that Stockton, Calif., will file bankruptcy. By 2009, Stockton had accumulated nearly $1 billion in debt on civic improvements, money owed to pay pension contributions, and the most generous health-care benefit in the state -- coverage for life for all retirees plus a dependent, no matter how long they had worked for the city. I guess everyone who voted these liberals in office are now wondering how they got to this point. That's the problem: You spend, spend, spend and this is what happens.

Pohlman's columns

Mia Pohlman amazes me each time she publishes an article. She is wise, way beyond her years. She holds great promise as a religious writer, should she choose that path. I have learned so much from her and encourage everyone to be sure and read/ponder what she has to say. Keep up the good work, Mia. You definitely have a special gift, and it is a blessing.

Obama pay cut

I realize it's politics. I didn't vote for Obama either time, but I am glad he is going to lead by example and take a pay cut. Everyone in elected office should take a pay cut.
