I was in a funeral procession down to Bloomfield veterans cemetery led by a trooper recently. It was amazing to see all the cars and trucks pulled over to the side of the road in respect to the family. Also, as we went through Delta a man saluted the procession and was also holding an American flag. It was so wonderful to see the American people doing this. We are still a proud nation, and I am proud to be one of them...

Trail cam

I read in the paper where they're having trouble with punks writing on the wall at the river. You can take care of the problem with the river and the deer eating the flowers and trying to decide which ones to shoot. You can take care of both problems with about an $80 trail cam. Mount it on the wall up high enough. You get the picture of the guy doing the painting, you arrest him then. The deer that the picture shows eating what they shouldn't be, you know which deer to shoot. It's not that complicated.

Obama's campaign

I just turned the TV on and guess who's on one more time? President Obama. You know, I saw where he has five campaign stops today. If he would spend a little time in Washington doing the job that he was elected for, he may not have to try so hard to get re-elected. Meanwhile, we the taxpayers are paying thousands of dollars every time he takes off, which is every day, and flies all over the country. Of course, we have to pay the Secret Service people and pay the gas for the airplane. No wonder this country is going broke because the president will not stay and do his job that we elected him for.

Display of courage

DENEKE Borders Murphy may have been defeated in her bid for re-election to the Cape Girardeau School Board but she sure deserves a shout out for having exposed some of the funny business said to be permeating the system and having the courage to follow through on her convictions.
