Today is the day to "be alert" when you are out at a restaurant. What happened to the time allowed for each course? One waiter brought a large bowl of salad and bread and in a flash, there was the entre. Then in about 5 to 10 minutes, he wanted to know if we wanted a to-go box. At another well-known restaurant, shortly after we received our food, he brought the check and then in a few minutes came to see if there was money in it. Who said we had to just eat, pay and run?...

Slow down

Today is the day to "be alert" when you are out at a restaurant. What happened to the time allowed for each course? One waiter brought a large bowl of salad and bread and in a flash, there was the entre. Then in about 5 to 10 minutes, he wanted to know if we wanted a to-go box. At another well-known restaurant, shortly after we received our food, he brought the check and then in a few minutes came to see if there was money in it. Who said we had to just eat, pay and run?

Business in Cape

People are getting all hot and bothered about Rhymer's and a couple of other places being given the boot in favor of a taxpayer subsidized redevelopment project by an already wealthy businessman. Me, I just chalk it up to business as usual for Cape while at the same time cursing a blue streak, breaking several dishes and feverishly type up a forthcoming recall petition for all members of the Cape city council who were favorably disposed to continuing to clamor for corporate welfare.

Winning deficit

One TRILLION dollar deficits by 2020! Are we winning yet?

Bankruptcy

The names of people who have filed for bankruptcy has been printed for years in the Business Today. They are not printed there now. I don't see why it matters where they are printed. Just like the tax liens.

Counting Ross

I've still got some counting to do but I think Adrienne Ross' most recent rant set a record for the number of times an opinion columnist has used the word I.

Witch hunt

Mueller's investigation, if that is what you want to call this witch hunt, has got so out of hand that he has more power than any government agency in the country and is flexing his self-assigned authority to dig until he finds something, anything to use against President Trump. In my 61 years I have never seen anything like this. I wonder what "dirt" we could dig up on Mueller if we could just keep digging until we found "something", which I'm certain we could. This guy is out of control and no one can touch him, and if any Republican even hints at reigning him in, it seems the blood that the Democrats want to taste is so consuming, they go nuts.

Stormwater

Someone said that the new stormwater drainage ditch voters passed this month may not solve all the problems but that "it sure has to help". Really? We have Cape officials overseeing this, so judging by how they handle our roads and the drainage ditches already in place, not only does what they do not "have" to help, there's a great chance it will do more harm than good and cost more money than what is currently in place. There is a drainage ditch along the back of our neighborhood that the city has not once, in at least 10 years, maintained or taken care of. It is a disaster and breeding place for mosquitoes, snakes, etc. It is never cleared out and is for the most part useless. Don't kid yourselves. The city of Cape is now involved, so the problems will probably escalate rather than be solved.
