Rocking church

I'M NOT sure if you remember the "Hee Haw" show that was put on by First General Baptist Church on Route PP last year, once at the church then at Homecomers. The church is up to it again. This time the church is going back into time to the 1950s. It is going to be rocking it out in style. There will be a lot going on. Feel free to join the church in raising money for a mission trip this year. You can call the church for times and prices. You'll have a ball.

Appreciation

THERE ARE few things that any of us will do in our lifetimes that will impact those around us as much as what Cape Girardeau County commissioners Gerald Jones and Jay Purcell have done by setting up countywide transportation. A need for improved transportation in the county has been on the top of every list of every area agency for years. A special thanks to our two commissioners for working on our needs.

More enforcement

MISSOURI COULD do two things to stem the tide of illegals flooding the state. Give its police officers the right to arrest illegals, and encourage prosecutors to go after businesses and individuals that employ illegals.

Useless intersection

WHY DOESN'T the city take out the roundabout near Saint Francis Medical Center? Those are the most useless, annoying intersection designs in the world.

Ship is sinking

THE CONTINUING die-hard supporters of the GOP (whose numbers are dwindling every day) are grasping at straws. They trumpet all of George Bush's so-called accomplishments while proclaiming that Democrats have no ideas. Yet every new poll shows that Americans are overwhelmingly ready to go with the no-idea Democrats over the current Congress and administration. Time to face reality, Republicans -- or go down with a sinking ship.

Get citizenship

THIS IS in response to the comment about migrant workers. My problem is that we must provide them with free medical care, which many of our own citizens can't afford. Plus, they are not vaccinated for certain diseases that we are. They come in with diseases and illnesses that we have to treat for free. If they want to work here, they need to become citizens like the rest of us.
