Junior high talent

I went to the talent show at Jackson Junior High School. What an outstanding job the students did in showcasing their talent. The teacher, Mrs. Lipe, put a ton of effort into the show, once again ensuring it's success. Great job.

Defense spending

BEFORE David Limbaugh and like-minded anti-progressive Luddites go berserk, let it be known that when it comes to defense, President Obama is proposing to spend just as much money on national defense as did his predecessor, George W. Bush.

Waiting for money

I can't wait for President Obama's socialist policies to take effect. I can then quit working and get some of that easy money everyone is looking forward to. I would like to sit at home and complain about the so-called wealthy also.

Keeping the wealth

PEOPLE who are excited about President Obama's plan to tax the wealthy and reduce the deficit are living in la-la land. The wealthy got that way first by studying or working hard and earning their money. They know how to hang onto it. That's what accountants and lawyers are for.

Jackson burglaries

WE continue to hear about the string of burglaries in Cape Girardeau. How about some reporting on the burglaries in Jackson? If the police are short-handed and can't help us protect ourselves, we deserve to know that we are going to have to protect ourselves on our own. We want to know what is going on in our community.

Washington's advice

Receive Daily Headlines FREESign up today!

IN his farewell address, President George Washington gave our young country two important warnings: Stay out of foreign entanglements, meaning that we should stay out of permanent alliances, and be careful of party politics and be careful not to become polarized as a result of it. So much for listening to good advice.

Good message

CONGRATULATIONS to Cape Girardeau's own Rush Limbaugh. What an inspiring speech he delivered at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference. For those whining that the Republicans need a new message, you need only listen to his speech to discover the old message is still applies. If you believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, our message and party are for you.

Huge success

PRESIDENT Obama's war on prosperity, so far, is a huge success. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 3,000 points since his election. American's life savings and college funds have been cut in half. During a financial disaster brought on by Democrat manipulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are riding high. What kind of political party works for our defeat at home and abroad? These people must be defeated.

Seeds of destruction

WHAT Plato said about political systems also holds true for economic systems. Thus, capitalism contains the seeds of its own destruction. Luckily, we now have a president who can and will save it.

Police priority

IF the Jackson police would spend as much time monitoring speeders driving through town as they do writing parking tickets for high school students, we would all feel a lot safer passing through.

Responsible sitters

REGARDING baby sitters: Call me old-fashioned, but shouldn't you pay the sitter for watching the children? If your sitter requires money up front for four days and then takes a day off, find another sitter. Make the sitter work for her money.
