** Obama, employment

I see in the news that President Obama has vetoed thousands of good union jobs, when he vetoed the pipeline. I don't know what to think about him. He keeps saying he's for the unions, he's for the middle class, he's for the working man. But it seems like whenever there's a chance to get some good-paying jobs in this country, he vetoes it. And all he worries about is minimum wage jobs for people, or part-time work. We need somebody in the presidency that will actually try to stimulate and get the economy going and get jobs moving, not trying to veto them all the time.

** Presidential rank

Follow up on comment on ranking the presidents. I did not see the list, but I would rank Franklin Roosevelt third and Clinton fourth.

** Trivia team

I hate to go public with this but it seems to be the only alternative left. The recent trivia night fundraiser for SEMO's Sundancers was a wonderful and highly successful event. However, the traveling trivia team on which I am a member did not do well. I am using the Speak Out forum as a means of putting pressure on our owner, general manager and coach to make some sweeping changes as concerns the makeup of the team. Only that will give us a chance to return to the glory days of trivia team domination we once enjoyed.

** Congratulations

Congratulations to KRCU's Alex Jackson and all of the others for the wonderful recent event at the Isle Capri. Alex has done a great job promoting KRCU, a station whose content I consider the best in the business. The band playing that unforgettable evening, Shades of Soul, was outstanding and kept me dancing throughout the evening. On the downside, I was so sore the next day I could barely move and was simply unable to fulfill any of the chores requested by my spouse.

** Big Dance?

The SEMO RedHawks still have a chance to go to what is called the Big Dance.

** Scott City schools

In part because it is offering an ACT prep class and has constructed a safe room designed to withstand an F-5 tornado, the currently most progressive school district in the area goes to the public school system in Scott City.

** Schweich death

This just doesn't make sense. The stunningly tragic death of MO Auditor Tom Schweich seems to demand a grand jury or other investigation into the seeming political shenanigans of the Show Me State.

** SEMO logo

Social media judgment of SEMO's new logo is even more critical than Joe Sullivan's opinion of the Oscar-winning movie, "Birdman."

** Leadership

Wouldn't it be nice if we had a strong leader like Benjamin Netanyahu, instead of that limp-wristed wordsmith that we have?

** Bag ban?

I have often wondered about which issue would lead Missouri legislators to go to the wall in fighting for. Never in my wildest imagination did I think it would manifest itself in an apparent attempt to impose their will on local communities by usurping their right to ban plastic bags.
