Garner support

I just saw that Dickey Nutt will be leaving SEMO. Maybe they could bring back Gary Garner, who was the last coach to win an OVC conference championship. We would love to have Coach Garner back in Cape Girardeau.

Rand's plan

Neo-isolationist Rand Paul is quickly abandoning his shrink-the-government, libertarian principles by coming out in favor of a massive increase in defense spending. Of course, this is understandable, when viewed in the context of Paul's urgent desire to be president.

Pundit prediction

David Limbaugh teased us by coming close to but failing to endorse Ted Cruz formally. My gut tells me Mr. Limbaugh will defer his formal endorsement until after the nominee is determined. Then, if he doesn't particularly care for the nominee, he will still begin churning out columns to the effect that he/she is better than the Democratic nominee.

Cruz, insurance

How great is that? Since he can no longer get health insurance coverage via his wife's policy, Ted Cruz, of all people, is signing up for Obamacare,

On the dial

SEMO After Dark is a scintillating Internet radio station. I particularly enjoy the programs hosted by one known on the station as The Navigator.

Kids + Internet = quiet

Equipping school buses with WiFi is an ingenious idea. All need for disciplinary action will vanish.

Electronic reversal

It won't be popular around here, but I have developed a computer app that will allow the user to automatically turn the online Southeast Missourian into a verbal vessel for the propagation of radical liberalism.

Asleep at the wheel

I would have faith in these newfangled driverless cars if and only if they could successfully maneuver their way down Broadway.

Downward drift

The basketball turnover, and the recent history of Southeast Missouri State University basketball and other sports, raises a question. Should SEMO even be a D-I program? Remember, they were a D-II power in many sports. Now they are at best average in a lower-tier conference and lower level of D-I. Does anyone realistically see this improving with what SEMO has to offer coaches or players?

Call-out time

Congressman Smith, it is time to get down off the fence. Choose a side and start doing something.

On paranoia ...

If you want a better understanding of Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, I suggest you read the late, great historian, Richard Hofstadter's Classic, "The Paranoid Style in American Politics."

Just sayin'

Just for the record, many of the students at the mandatory attendance convocation at Jerry Fallwell-founded Liberty University were embarrassed by the recent appearance of Long live the king

Though unable to attend the funeral, I bid a formal Speak Out farewell to the psychopathic King of England, Richard III, who died at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485.

Court (not) in session

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday turned away a challenge to Wisconsin's voter identification law. There is no U.S. Supreme Court anymore. It is a Republican court, bought and paid for by the Koch Brothers. They are not for the American people anymore. They are a disgrace to America.
