THE comments in a recent Best of the Web section show the people in the Cape Girardeau area are waking up. Any noise ban should be citywide and include all noises, including cheering and outdoor football games. THANK you, MoDOT, for picking up the deer and for trying to patch the holes on Route F going to Tilsit. But you guys missed a bunch of holes. The road is pitiful. Road problem

THANK you, MoDOT, for picking up the deer and for trying to patch the holes on Route F going to Tilsit. But you guys missed a bunch of holes. The road is pitiful. It needs to be resurfaced with hot mix.

Water's power

I still can't believe people today don't understand the power of water and how strong it can be. Next time you're in the grocery store, stop by where they have gallons of water for sale, pick up two gallons, and imagine hundreds of thousands of gallons, if not millions of gallons, coming at you. Then you'll get the idea of what a tsunami's power can be.

Lexington Ave.

Osage temperature

CAPE Girardeau could save thousands of dollars by turning down the heat at the Osage Centre. When we play basketball or volleyball or people walk, the heat becomes oppressive. Sometimes when you leave you feel nauseated. Complaints have fallen on deaf ears.

Gas prices

READING the Out of the Past section in the Southeast Missourian for March 9, 1986, it said, "Regular gasoline in Sikeston selling for 56.9 cents per gallon as gas prices continue to fall; in Cape Girardeau, prices a little higher at 79.9 cents a gallon." I recently filled up in Jackson for $3.25 a gallon. Those were the good old days, weren't they?

House Republicans

REPUBLICANS were all fired up about getting control of the House and making a difference. They have, they've made things a whole lot worse than they were before.

Nuclear power

I wonder if the people of the United States realize how many nuclear places we have here in the states. Going on the Internet, it said there are 104. I don't think our people realize what we've got here.
