A big thank you goes to the woman who bought my meal at the Burger King drive-thru recently in Jackson. I'll be sure to pay it forward. IF the price of gas continues like this I am going to have to join the rest of the Democrats and the Obama nation on welfare, because I can't afford to drive to work...

IF the price of gas continues like this I am going to have to join the rest of the Democrats and the Obama nation on welfare, because I can't afford to drive to work.
Deer hunting
I have questions I would like answered. If deer hunting passes here in Cape Girardeau, will we be able to post our property for no hunting? Also, if hunting is permitted and I post my property, does that mean there can be no shooting onto my property? Also, is the reason that there is no deer count in the city because the number would not validate the claim for the number of carcasses picked up off the Cape Girardeau streets? And does that number account for the carcasses on Interstate 55 where there is no hunting permitted and will never be hunting permitted?
Too much rhetoric
I'M getting sick of all this rhetoric about birth control. Why should the government or churches pay for birth control when people can get it at Planned Parenthood anytime they want it? And I think all these unmarried women ought to practice abstinence.
Warning sirens
I would like to thank the city of Jackson for its storm warning sirens. I'd like to thank all the people who went out in the storm to make sure everyone was all right, our fire and safety rescue. You are appreciated.
Doctors-lawyers game
I always get a thrill out of the local doctors-lawyers basketball game. This annual contest was no exception. Those who don't come to see it are missing out on some real excitement and outstanding talent. Two things caught my attention this year. One was near-octogenarian Bill Burlison, longtime U.S. Representative and still political activist, fit as a fiddle, and serving to add competitive spirit and depth to the lawyers' squad. The other was Dr. Nathan McGuire. The modest McGuire, an athlete with talent in multiple sports, dazzled me and others with his moves on the court. I hope to see you there next year.

Double standard
I'M so sick of the outraged posturing on the part of liberals and Democrats. Did you cry foul and boycott the advertisers of the newsman who called Laura Ingram a slut? He got a week off without pay, and the incident got very little press coverage. I guess a conservative, Republican female's honor isn't as big a deal as a liberal Democrat's. Once again, the hypocritical liberals demand tolerance and pitch a fit at any hint of stepping on the sacred ground of freedom of speech until they go after a conservative or a Republican.
Famous Missourian
NO matter what the Speak Out bloggers think or say, or what the Democrats think or say, Rush Limbaugh is a famous Missourian. What other Missourian has a nationwide radio talk show? What other Missourian gets his name in the news as much? What other Missourian gets the nation stirred up like he does? He is a famous Missourian no matter what you people think.
Limbaugh, flood wall
RUSH Limbaugh does not deserve a place on the river wall in downtown Cape Girardeau. It should be painted over. He is a bad example for our community and children.
Obama's energy policy
PRESIDENT Obama says there is "no silver bullet" to solve the energy crisis. And yet, he says he is for "all of the above" to solve the energy problem. If he had been for "all of the above" in 2008, we wouldn't be in such a mess.
Too much discord
WHY are we at each others' throats about every little thing that comes along? Why are we in such discord about all things that don't really matter? We are feeding right into Satan's hands. He loves discord, dissension, anger, hatred and all things that go against the nature of God. The only way to beat Satan is to not let anger get the best of us. Turn away from people just out to get your goat. I do not agree with a lot of things the politicians and talking heads say. I form my own opinions. When it comes down to it. Republicans, Democrats, independents, it doesn't matter your financial status, Judgment Day is coming. Only one thing will matter and that is if you believe that Jesus died for you. Oh, you can scoff and sneer and I am sure that there are people that will. Just know that I know where I am going. Do you?
Miller column
BOB Miller's recently published takedown of Cape Girardeau native Rush Limbaugh was a profile in courage accompanied by an accuracy so unchallengable that Miller rather than Limbaugh should be inducted into the Hall of Fame of Famous Missourians.
