Having it both ways

IT SEEMS that God is forgotten when some people are talking of the right to choose on abortion rights and a woman's rights to choose life over death. But when tragedy strikes, everyone prays to God and turns to him and asks for his blessing, forgetting the genocide.

Where are the police?

I HEAR we had more restaurants get robbed in town. How much longer is it going to be before we start seeing that the police have made some arrests on this? We have had numerous banks, gas stations and restaurants held up or robbed this year, and it doesn't seem like anything is getting done about it. We never hear of anyone being arrested. Isn't it time that the Cape police department start defending its taxpaying citizens?

More politics as usual

I CANNOT believe the politics the Democrats have continued to play after the death of Governor Carnahan. I cannot believe the comments about people suggesting that as part of his legacy we should continue to vote for him. I cannot believe the Democrats hate John Ashcroft so much that the idea of running against whoever they might appoint is more appealing than the policies that he has obviously enacted throughout the state.

Turn out and vote

THE BEST way that Missourians can pay tribute to the spirit, the memory, the principles, and the legacy of the late Governor Carnahan is to turn out in mass numbers to vote for him in November.

Some Speak Out math

THE WISDOM imparted by a Speak Out comment is inversely proportional to its length.

These are clear choices

HERE ARE some general differences between Republicans and Democrats on taxes. Do you think we pay enough taxes and would like to pay less? Vote Republican. Do you like paying taxes and think we should pay more? Vote Democrat. On abortion, would you like to be informed about your teen-age daughter getting an abortion? Vote Republican. Are you opposed to being informed about your teen-age daughter getting an abortion? Vote Democrat. On gun control, if you like the idea of being able to protect your family from criminals, vote Republican. If you prefer not to be allowed to have an equalizer to protect yourself from criminals, vote Democrat. On patriotism, if you think that the United States should continue to be the leader in the free world, vote Republican. If you think it's OK to give military secrets away to make us vulnerable like other nations, vote Democrat. On freedom, if you like the idea of taking care of yourself and family from cradle to grave, vote Republican. If you want government to take care of you from cradle to grave and think it is OK for the government to take money from my family to give to your family, vote Democrat. The choice is yours.

Vote for Carnahan

I URGE all Missouri Democrats to vote for Governor Carnahan.

Don't be fooled

GOVERNOR CARNAHAN worked very hard and did a lot of good for Missouri. So on Election Day do him the honor of voting for him. He will be replaced by another good Democrat. Don't let anyone tell you that you have to vote Republican.

Teach driver's education

I HAVE difficulty understanding the emphasis on spending more money for education when young adults can emerge from 12 years of education without the ability to read adequately. One practical subject I would like to see addressed is driver's education. What happened to it? How many schools in the area offer it? I notice we have subjects such as video coverage. Perhaps next will be basket weaving and social hog calling. The way I see it, throwing more good money after bad isn't going to prepare our children to face a future that requires practical abilities such as knowing how to read or drive a car in order to deal with an increasingly hostile world.
