Thanks, Pat and Ralph

I THINK it's time we took a minute to thank Pat Buchanan and Ralph Nader for their patriotic assistance in getting some decency back to the White House. Without their help we might have been doomed to at least four more years of income redistribution under the Democrats' plan. Thank you, sirs, from the bottom of our American hearts. We owe you a sincere debt of gratitude. An honorable mention goes to the ignorance of a select few thousand Florida Democratic voters for not being able to read and follow instructions. Hey, like you all said a few years back, "Get over it." Nobody is going to take away your big government. Yet. We know there are too many Americans who depend on the government to fend for them.

Who started it?

I WOULD like for all of the individuals who have commented on how George W. Bush is not their president and how the Republicans stole the election through the courts to ask themselves this question: Who took this election into the courts in the first place?

Frightening majority

I DON'T believe the combined populations of New York and Los Angles could elect a president were there no Electoral College. In fact, the populations of the states of New York, California and Florida combined could not elect a president. If the Electoral College were done away with, our future presidents would be elected by the group most frightening to you, a majority of the American people.

Monkey wrenches

DAVID LIMBAUGH'S column of Dec. 16 is right on target. I'd bet those radical Senate Democrats will constantly throw a monkey wrench into President Bush's agenda because they'll be out to prove that Bush shouldn't have got the presidency. They'll fight tooth and nail. What we've got here is a battle between two ideologies, absolute power and control vs. our constitutional form of government and democracy.

Where are history buffs?

I'M CALLING in regard to the editorial in the Southeast Missourian "Wildwood's fate sealed as alumni center." It's quite difficult for me to accept the fact that the Wildwood home is going to become part of an alumni center. The home is unique, and it's the only place on the campus where we still have originality of the land. I can't believe we haven't had anyone from the History Department or anybody from historic preservation comment in the paper concerning this endeavor.

It takes a lot of gall

I THINK Bush has a lot of gall reaching over for Democrats' support, particularly in Congress. His father chose sour grapes when he was defeated. His mother called Bill Clinton a whiner. You know who he reminds me of? He reminds me of someone stealing your cattle and getting away with it legally, and he calls for your support in managing his estate.

It could be really cold

THANK GOODNESS for global warming. Could you imagine what this weather would be like if we didn't have that warming trend?

Pull up those trunks

IF COACH Garner doesn't make the team pull those trunks up, they're going to be embarrassed someday when a pair of them come off.

Put him on high court

I THINK John Ashcroft would make an excellent Supreme Court justice.
