Can't buy happiness

THIS GOES out to all those Washington Redskins fans in the NFL. Don't you guys know that money can't buy happiness? Looks like you'll be home for the holidays.

And lingerie too

THERE HAVE been so many briefs in this presidential election, I think someone needs to start selling underwear.

Let the court decide

NEXT ELECTION I won't bother to vote. I will let the Supreme Court decide whom I want or do not want as in this case.

Election observers

I HOPE the United States never has the gall again to send delegates to underdeveloped nations where elections are suspect. What a farce.

Partisan court helped

OUR NEXT president is going to be George W. Bush, but he couldn't have gotten elected without the partisanship of the U.S. Supreme Court. That's not just sour grapes talking, that's the truth.

They weren't counted

I HAVE never seen a group of people get the facts so wrong as the Republicans. All the votes were not counted in Broward, Miami-Dade or Palm Beach. The machine threw out the ones it couldn't count so they could be counted later by a hand. The Republicans held up the process by illegal means until the deadline passed so they wouldn't be counted. The other counties who had the same problems were allowed to have a recount without interruption. Gore won all the major cities except. The only way Bush got a mere 500 votes over Gore was because of the no-count in three counties and the inclusion of 20,000 illegal votes that they filled out themselves. Gore won Florida.

Knowledge is power

THIS IS for the caller who asked how meth information would benefit 8- and 9-year-olds. Either you are cooking meth or you are an old-timer who doesn't think your tax money should be used for anything but the three Rs. Knowledge is power, and the more informed children are of the dangers of deadly drugs, the less likely they are to use these drugs.

Educated voters

I COMPLETELY agree with the Democrats that all voters have the right to have their votes counted. But all voters also have an obligation to know the rules and follow the rules. I have never voted in an election in my life that I didn't read the ballot to be sure I was voting for the person I wanted to vote for. Voters have an obligation to learn about the candidates and vote for the proper candidate. There is no excuse for this.

A right to challenge

LET ME explain something that you liberals just don't seem to understand. You continue to say that John Ashcroft had no choice but to concede to Jean Carnahan in his race for the Senate. You say further that Al Gore could continue to fight and that there is no comparison between the two races. Let me explain something. Ashcroft had every right to contest that race because under Missouri law an individual running for the U.S. Senate must be a resident at the time of his election. Clearly Gov. Mel Carnahan was deceased and was not a resident at the time of his election. This is an extremely strong legal ground on which Senator Ashcroft could have challenged the election. But he chose not to. He chose to concede with grace, poise and dignity, something liberals and Gore will never understand.
