THE MOVIE "Fast and Furious" is really in poor taste. It's going to end up getting a lot of teen-agers killed. They're going to want to imitate the movie and try to go as fast as they can in their souped-up cars. I saw two kids drag racing and getting pulled over. This is not going to end. You law enforcement officers really have your work cut out now...

Waiting to vote

WITH ALL the recent scandals in the city, I believe it is time that voters take care of this problem. When the elections come, let's get a new mayor, new judge, new everything. I think a little new blood flowing in the system would be beneficial. We have too many four-way stop signs, streets in disrepair and a wonderful roundabout that was too small due to an engineering marvel. It's time for new people. I for one can't wait for the elections.

Can't buy me

IT IS going to take more than a small check for me to like George W. Bush. In fact, there isn't enough money to accomplish that feat.

It's the fine print

IT WAS the Republicans who taught us Democrats to read the fine print, which stated that big business and the wealthy deserve special treatment. Somehow we just cannot swallow this garbage.

Just the opposite

WHINERS? I do not know of any other group that whines more than the Republicans. Another thing I learned while reading Speak Out is that Republicans consider themselves to be decent, upright human beings. Strange, but this is in direct opposition to everything I have ever observed about them. Reminds me of an old adage: Thinking doesn't make it so.

Jump to Libertarians

I AM very disappointed in Peter Kinder's support of the new Cardinals' stadium. I have recently joined the ranks of the Libertarian movement because of instances like this. I would like to encourage all conservatives to check out the Libertarian Party. As with any party, you won't agree with all of its ideologies, but it is the only party that believes in less government, and it definitely doesn't agree with funding private enterprises with tax dollars.

Saved our money

THANK YOU, Jim Drury, for saving the taxpayers' money.

Whew! Getting hot

GLOBAL WARMING must exist. This month certainly seems warmer than last month.

Wishful thinking

"IN ALL of history, no re-elected governor of a state who was elected president has ever failed to be re-elected president." Huh? Say what? I don't know the Speak Out caller's source for such a comment, but it deserves some kind of award for the most convoluted way of expressing wishful thinking in the history of western civilization.

They get to spend

TO ANSWER an elementary civics question raised in Speak Out as to what gives state Sen. Peter Kinder the authority to vote to assist the St. Louis Cardinals, it's generally referred to as constitutional power given the legislative branch to spend and appropriate money. Though there is no doubt that such an action would be constitutional, the caller is certainly free to challenge the matter in another one of the three branches of government, namely, the judicial branch or court system.

More generalizations

A SPEAK Out caller made six or so generalizations about teachers and teacher salaries and then said generalizations about these matters are ridiculous.

Marginalized ideas

IF DAVID Limbaugh decrees that the Republican Party is drifting to the far left, one time the exclusive dominion of the Democrats, this means in reality that the GOP has moved from the extreme right toward the sensible center. Limbaugh's ideas and ideology have mercifully become marginalized.
