Proper nourishment

I KNOW each wretched person who lies to himself. These are the people who do not obtain proper nourishment for the four parts of themselves which they will never know: the body, the mind, the soul and the heart.

I WANT to comment about the caller who said the government should take over the oil companies in order to drive down the price. Everywhere this has been tried, the price has only increased.

End to wonderful year

I ATTENDED the Eagle Ridge Christian School graduation ceremony. Along with the 450 other people, I was treated to a great celebration for the end of a wonderful school year. What a great school Eagle Ridge is. Our community is blessed to have a non-denominational Christian school in our community. Everyone involved did a great job, and it was a great evening for the kids.

Noise in glass houses

I WANT to comment about the city councilmen complaining about the loud noise on Middle Street and how they want the police to do something about it. There's an old saying: "Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." One of those councilmen has a lot of rental property, and there is loud noise and partying coming from that property. Why doesn't he call the police on his own property?

Enforce the laws

THIS IS in response to the article I read in the Southeast Missourian. We need to enforce the laws on loitering and loud music, not have more meetings. People on the south side support council members Purcell and Eggimann.

Passing doesn't work

I'M READING Donna Collins' letter to the editor in the Southeast Missourian. Though it's shown that retention of students doesn't increase their reading ability, passing them on regardless of their abilities has done much less than nothing.
