I THINK the politicians have reached a level of ridiculousness for broadcasting their speeches in Spanish as well as English. If Spanish people are in the United States legally, that's great. Speak English

I THINK the politicians have reached a level of ridiculousness for broadcasting their speeches in Spanish as well as English. If Spanish people are in the United States legally, that's great. But if they can't speak and understand English, they have no right to be here, especially long enough to be a voter.

Thanks for prom dinner

THANK YOU to the generous person who paid the bill for our prom dinner at Cedar Street Restaurant Saturday night. It was a great start to our evening. We wish we could have thanked you in person.

A change of style

WHAT A blessed relief to see Children and Family Day celebrated at the White House with T-ball for the children. What a contrast to the past eight years.

They like taxes

PETER KINDER and Gov. Bob Holden are calling each other names. That's fine. Let them call each other names. But Kinder has a really good idea. He has an idea of how to fix the roads without any new taxes. That messes the governor up, because all the Democratic governors want to do is raise more taxes and hope the voters forget about it before the next election. Democrats like more taxes, especially in their first year.

Still griping

I FEEL sorry for the Jackson School District administration. All I've heard for the last couple of years is people calling into Speak Out and griping because of the financial situation isn't what they think it should be. Recently, someone complained because the district is converting a full-time job to a part-time job with no benefits. They're trying to do what taxpayers have asked them to do: save money every possible way. Now that someone's leaving, this is the perfect opportunity. They're saving money on hours and benefits. Seems to me that some Jackson residents will gripe no matter what that school district does.

Thank you

HAS ANYBODY said it? Thank you for the new, wide Broadway.
