Too many stoplights IS IT really necessary to put a stoplight on every intersection of Broadway? Now traffic is backed up from Clark to West End Boulevard from 3 to 6 p.m. every day.

Another comeback

WITH THE collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the welfare-queen era, anti-Clintonism is about the only thing holding the Republican Party together. In addition, Republicans are scared to death of Clinton. They rightly fear still one more return of the comeback kid.

Badly burned

MARTY MISHOW'S malevolent response to a letter complaining about his alleged mean-spirited criticism of Cape Central's varsity boy's basketball team is understandable, after having been badly burned this year by apparently choosing to become a virtual press-agent booster, then apologist, for some of SEMO's more than mildly disappointing sports seasons.

Party pandering

EXTREMISM IN the defense of the far-right wing of the Republican Party is necessary pandering to keep it loyal and hold together the shaky coalition of the modern-day GOP and, therefore, is no vice.
