Reverse bigotry

WHEN are people going to learn that disliking the president has nothing to do with his skin color but everything to do with his attitudes and policies? I'm so fed up with the attitude that anyone disagreeing with our president is doing so because he is a black American. I understand there are still bigots and that this is the only reason they dislike him, but those individuals are not the majority of Americans. The blanket used to cover all who disagree is only crafted by those who are really bigots.

Taking from the poor

ONCE again Missouri Republicans are up to their old tricks. Take from the poor and give to the rich. Lowering the minimum wage would mean less for the poor worker and more in the pockets of the rich. Doing away with the unions would mean lower wages for the poor and more for the rich. Sounds like a good way to grow our economy at the expense of the poor.

Trash pickup

IN response to the trash pickup comment, I can understand feeling slighted if one wasn't notified previously that the one cent tax was ending. But this tax was created in the 1970s. That was 40 years ago. I can remember stamps being 23 cents when I was younger. Stamps are now 48 cents. So obviously the cost of living has increased since 1970, and we have to keep up with that increase. If Jackson residents want to keep the city looking clean, then it may be necessary to impose a tax larger than one penny.
