Ethics issues

WHEN candidate Barack Obama said of lobbyists "they won't find a job in my White House," it's obvious he was pulling the wool over the eyes of the voters since as president he has found jobs for several. He's definitely having trouble with that whole ethical White House thing since he's also having trouble finding Cabinet members without some sort of scandal attached to their names. It evidently isn't a problem since the Senate seems willing to confirm anyone he suggests. I bet Bill Richardson wishes he would have waited to back out of his commerce secretary nomination due to his grand jury probe. He didn't realize rules of morality, ethics and good character had been suspended in the Obama White house.

Trickle up

WHAT we really need in the next stimulus package is a bailout for the average American family. I keep hearing politicians talking about how we should focus on the housing crisis because it caused this mess. The plan they have for this crisis is to offer low-interest refinancing plans to "creditworthy" people. Guess what? It's not creditworthy people who are in foreclosure. It's mostly working-class families who investors took a chance on even though many of them had questionable credit. The only way to turn this economy around is to raise taxes on the wealthy, who have benefited greatly by the Bush tax cuts, and use that money to send checks to hard-working Americans who live paycheck to paycheck. They will spend it, and it will trickle right back up to the wealthy taxpayers who had their taxes raised.

Not grateful

TO all those people who love to preach to other people that they need to be grateful for whatever jobs that they could find: I will do whatever jobs that I need to do in order to survive, but I do not need to be grateful for it.

Enhanced resume

WHAT I have ascertained from current government appointments is tax evasion is not a crime and that it enhances your resume. That is good to know if I am ever called to jury duty on a tax-evasion case.

Snow-day roller coaster

SOME of the most memorable times from my school days were when we got out for a snow day. The anticipation that we might be out of school was spine-tingling. When it turned out that we didn't, it was devastating. The fact that this doesn't affect homeschooled children is a good thing. These children are not exposed to such emotional roller coasters.
