Dress code

One complaint is that girls wear their jeans too tight. You should look at the yearbooks from the '60s and '70s when miniskirts were going up and down the staircases. Make it easy. Just keep the tops and bottoms covered with no undergarments showing, no bad words and no gang signs.

Divided country

In my 56 years, I have never seen a president divide a country like Obama has. Countries around the world do not respect us and see us as weak because of Obama's "bow down" demeanor. He has people at each other's throats in the public and in Washington more than any president I can remember. Is it so important that he is president that all those who voted for him are willing to look the other way from all his failed promises and policies. God help us if this man continues to thumb his nose at the America that I was once proud of. We are in destruction mode.

Minimum wage

Raising the minimum does not work in the long run. If the minimum wage is raised from $7.25 to $9, that is about a 24 percent increase. The people who are already being paid $9 will say they should also receive a 24 percent increase. That would increase their pay to $11.16. People already making $11.16 will ask to go up to $13.84. The products we buy will also have to go up 24 percent. So what you end up with is a chain reaction that causes the dollar to lose its value. Nothing has been gained.

Preschool age

I see that Obama wants to put the children, little 4-year-olds, into preschool. How or when can children be children? Why do they have to grow up so fast? When I was a child, we had preschool and kindergarten and didn't start school until we were 6 years old and made it through high school fine. We were allowed to have our young years to be children. Children can't be children anymore. I think this is disgusting.

Thank you

This is a big "thank you" to the person driving the red Mustang traveling north on I-55 on the morning of Feb 14. If you had not been so persistent in the blinking of your lights to bring attention to the car traveling north in the southbound lane, many, many drivers could have been hurt or killed. Thank you so much.

Second Amendment

When our constitution was written more than 200 years ago, it was unimaginable a single person could kill dozens of people with precision in just a few minutes with an easy-to-get assault rifle. I'm a firm believer in the right to own guns. It's possible to have this view while also supporting measures to limit the potential destruction by any individual. Just think about how our Second Amendment might be used to justify mass access to killing technology 200 years from now.

Water park, ball fields

In answer to the comment of bad purchase of the city about the water park. The water park has done great, but it could also be better with adding a few things. One is like something of the wave that other parks have. It has done more than any swimming pool ever has. As far as the ball fields, go by them in the summer and see how full they are with people. It is good, as it is also bringing kids together and off the streets. It keeps families together also. Even the relatives, as you will see grandparents as well as aunts and uncles. It is well worth the money. A lot more than the walking trail along Route K. That is a waste of money and a joke for sure.

DHS bullets

I just read an article that the Department of Homeland Security has bought 1.6 billion bullets in the last year. That is more than four bullets for every person in the United States. Are they planning on such a large scale civil unrest that they need four bullets for every citizen? Why would DHS need any bullets? I thought they were the security check for people at airports.

Preschool chances

Since universal, preschool education makes such absolute, incontrovertible sense, the chance of its implementation is nil.

Good intentions

Cape's renovated Broadway has come under some serious Speak Out criticism. In semi-defense of Broadway's new look, one must remember that the road to the casino is paved with good intentions.

Obama's spending

Obama seems to have the same mentality as those who bought homes they couldn't afford and then had them foreclosed on because of nonpayment. This new round of entitlement spending for a national preschool program is just wonderful, if we had the money. This president lives in la la land where he spends taxpayer money like he is building a Disney theme park where everyone has a good time. Does someone need to give the president a call to inform him of our exploding deficit? His answer to everything is more spending.
