APPARENTLY we have a problem at the county level, as we have two out of three county commissioners who have decided to give all county employees, including themselves of course, a 2.5 percent cost of living increase.
I have a brother who does marijuana, and he's also very physically sick. This provides comfort to him. Sometimes he gets in a tub of water, hot enough to almost to scald him, because of the physical pain he's in. He's on food stamps. Before people judge people who are on food stamps and doing pot, maybe they need to think about those who are sick.
I wish someone would explain why Keith Olbermann gets punished for doing what an entire network does 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It goes unpunished. Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck spew worse commentary than Olbermann, yet they still have their jobs. Why does one man get punished yet others go unpunished for doing the same thing, if not worse?
IN response to the "Light in Darkness" article and subsequent editor's comment, just because there are women who work at such places as the Pony does not mean they are not Christians. In the past, I have seen Christians make the determination of who is and who is not a Christian. My religious upbringing tells me if I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, then I am a Christian. Being a Christian also means we should strive to be Christ-like. Light in Darkness is striving to do a good deed, but let us not judge others on who is and who is not a Christian.
THIS is in regard to the entertainment the Super Bowl had this year, especially Ms. Aguilera messing up on the national anthem at the start of the game and the poor halftime entertainment. They could have got somebody better.
A recent article in the paper demonstrated the exact reason we have such a deficit in this country. We have welfare recipients who get money for food stamps, baby formula, day care and doctor bills, plus a check every month to pay for other things -- all the time while they're having illegitimate children and not working. That's the reason the country is in the situation it's in. I say if the government wants these people to have drug tests in order to get all this money, that's the least they could do.
WHEN are some individuals going to understand that the majority of people did for vote Obama? Maybe not right here in Southeast Missouri, which could use a little broadening, but the nation as a whole did.
I don't really know what a splash pad is, but it sounds fun. I would like to see something that adults as well as children could use. Also, some cities have nice fountains that can also serve as a splash pool. That would be fun during the hot summers. If neither of these ideas are going to happen, I would like to see an ice-skating rink.
