THERE'S so much information about when to throw away food when your power has been off. I'm curious as to why these people didn't donate this food to shelters, especially from the freezer. That would help out so much.

THIS is in reference to comments about mail service. The U.S. Postal Service is seeing a lot of changes. Business hours are being cut, and people are not being hired. The postal service has been short-handed for a long time. That affects mail service down the line. A lot of people are concerned. Instead of calling Speak Out, they need to speak to Robert Fleming, the postmaster, or Mike Darling, the plant manager, here in Cape Girardeau. They should express their concerns and ask questions.

Learning from a movie

I'M horrified to see what's going on in Venezuela against the Jewish people. I would suggest anyone who has a child 12 and older, take them to see the movie "Defiance." The R rating is not for anything particularly bad, and children need to be aware that if it can happen to one group of people, it can happen to them. We must protect people.

Flushing medicine

WHY do medical personnel and hospitals condone the flushing of medicine, expired or not, down the toilet? Do you not realize that all of those chemicals wind up in our water supply? Do you not realize the magnitude of this problem? Do you not realize the horrors we are producing for our children? And please do not suggest the trash can. That also goes into the water eventually. Somebody please help.

Plant more trees

IT would be nice if the city would replace the trees that have died or been removed as a result of their age and weather conditions at Courthouse Park in Cape Girardeau. Spring is coming, and it would be a good time to plant new ones. This would greatly improve the look of the area. Maybe a garden club could consider this project.
