Recital etiquette
IT IS that time again for band, choir and dance recitals. I enjoy attending to see how much the students have learned throughout the year. The students and teachers work hard to present a memorable program. It is so disappointing, though, to witness the rude behavior of the audience -- not the children, but many of the parents and grandparents. They talk throughout the show, let cell phones ring and shout out when their child enters the stage. These performance are about the students, not the parents. Please act accordingly. These are recitals, not the WWF.
Dogs at night
WE CAN hear your dogs' continual barking from a quarter-mile away. Surely you can hear them outside your bedroom window each night. How about showing some common courtesy for your neighbors?
CEO failures
YOUR RECENT puff piece on Central High School graduate Gary Forsee seems even puffier. Forbes Magazine disclosed that Forsee was among the worst-performing corporate CEOs while at the same time among the leaders in financial gain. When fired from his disastrous performance as Sprint's CEO, he received $40 million in severance pay, a pension of $84,000 a month and assistance in finding a new job. Rewarding the worst with the most has become common among corporate CEOs. Stockholders need to revolt and put an end to this disgusting practice.
Neighborly concern
OUR NEIGHBORHOOD was also a part of the search the Jackson police were conducting when looking for cows. A farmer's cows got out (I believe there were 49 of them), and all of them were found except one or two. I felt good about the police trying to find the stray cows. It gives me the feeling that our town is still small enough to care about our neighbors. We should be proud of our police for spending one evening doing a good deed, and we should also be grateful that it was cows and not anything more serious.
Thanks for roundup
I WOULD like to thank the Jackson Police Department for the cow roundup. One Officer stopped traffic while another one chased the cows off the road on East Jackson Boulevard. Thank you, guys, for making sure no cows or people were hurt while the cows were in the highway. I am sure you didn't expect things like this when you first became police officer. I appreciate all the work you do for our town. I am sure the person who lost the cows appreciates it also.
