No roundabout

Please, not another micro roundabout at the intersection of Independence and Gordonville Road in Cape. Roundabout need to be at least a hundred yards in diameter to work correctly and be safe.

Set example

Why don't these high profile athletes and protesters wear T-shirts that say "Obey the Law"? Show support for the law enforcement and law a biding citizens, regardless of color. Set an example for goodness sake.

Basketball event

Some area schools were criticized for not taking their students to a recent SEMO daytime basketball game to which they were invited. In fairness to those students were likely too busy with their academics to take time out and attend a SEMO recruiting event.

Reckless bill

The pre-financial collapse environment is back! In order to get the votes necessary to pass the budget, Congress deep sixed sensible legislation previously passed which was designed to prevent another Wall Street Wild West scenario that led to the 2008 meltdown and subsequent recession. Too big to fail is back in style.

Ferguson

I really don't understand why so many people are upset with police regarding the incident in Ferguson. An officer responded to a call about a robbery and found the suspect. He tried to arrest him and was attacked by the suspect. Isn't it the job of the police to arrest lawbreakers? If the suspect refuses to be arrested and then attacks the officer, he pays the consequences. Maybe Michael Brown's parents should have done a better job of raising their son so that he respected authority.

Smoking problem

Smoking has been reduced to an all-time low of 18 percent. Still, it accounts for one of every five deaths, will take 40 years to halve again and will take the lives of 5.6 million of those who are currently children. We must do better!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas or Seasons Greetings. Doesn't matter which one you choose we are all celebrating love and blessings given to us by a very special birth. Find away to pay it forward.

Progressive agenda

Chins up, progressives. At least we got a few things out of the budget bill. Obamacare remains untouched and immigration as well as climate change rules stay the same.

Republicans vote

The Republicans lost the presidential race with Mitt Romney just some years ago for several reasons. However, they just had a regular tidal wave of people taking over -- Republicans that is -- taking over the positions in the House and the Senate. They were sent there, voted there by the people to stop Obamacare and to stop the flow of Hispanics over the border. And what do they do, the first vote? They vote to finance Obamacare and continue the flow of Hispanics across the border. When Mitt Romney lost to Obama, 3 million Republicans didn't show up to vote. What, do you suppose, this bad vote by Republicans is going to do for turnout next time?

Change symbols

Yes, I would like to comment about the politics in the country. I would like to see the Republicans get rid of that elephant and put the ant as the symbol of the Republican party, if you could get the Democrats to take the grasshopper. Remember the story of the grasshopper and the aunt, where the aunt worked all the time and the grasshopper played and wanted to eat what the ants made? This describes the political differences we have in this country. And I think it would help people understand more about their politics. The grasshoppers, they want something free. That would be the Democratic Party, taking away from the ants. The ants working all the time. That sounds like the Republicans. So, I would like to see them change their symbols.
