I was at Wal-Mart on Dec. 11. As I went into the store facing many shoppers, I traded off a cart with broken wheels and reached for a better cart. Somehow I lost my purse. Looking around in a panic, I asked someone and was told to go to the service area in case someone had turned it in. With a prayer in my heart when I reached the area someone said a woman had lost her purse. A clerk came to me with a purse that a man had just turned in. Hard to believe, but it was mine! Everything was still in it! "Praise the Lord!" Someone was very kind and thoughtful besides being a good Samaritan. I could not even say "thank you" to them. May God bless you richly for your act of honesty and kindness. I shall ever be grateful, and hopefully I shall be much more careful in the future.
One of the newest words in the Webster Dictionary is "selfie." This is a picture a person takes of themselves with their cellphone. Sometimes it is just of themselves, and sometimes it is with a friend. A European paper just reported that a journalist caught the president of the United States taking a selfie of himself, Denmark's Prime Minister Helle Thornig-Schmidt and Britain's David Cameron, while at Nelson Mandela's funeral. Just makes you so proud, doesn't it? His arrogance is shadowed by his immaturity.
I would like to respond to the story, "Despite downsides, teachers still attracted to the profession." You know, that's like the medical profession. If you love what you're doing, you love your children, you love your patients, you're going to stay in the medical profession. And no matter what anybody says, there's going to be good, there's going to be bad in everything. But it's only as good as your teachers make the schools and as your employees make the hospitals.
Jackson needs to change its Christmas parade time to the first Saturday after Thanksgiving instead of the first Saturday in December. Besides, the first Saturday after Thanksgiving is really the start of Christmas present-buying and the season.
I don't have a problem with the mail service as long as I get it that day. I know they'll have an increase in volume during the Christmas season. But I'm a little confused. They blamed the problems with them losing money to people using the Internet more and not using the mail service. So, which is it?
I read where the movie star Ben Affleck has a hard time watching Republicans on screen, knowing they do not support his group of liberals. He made a comment that was very revealing. When asked whether he would support Hillary Clinton for president, he said that idea excited him. "Excited" him? He said he campaigned for Obama to be the first black president because it made history and getting a woman into the presidency also would make history. How sad these uninformed liberals who promote politicians are not interested in the betterment of this great country, rather they make choices that will "make history."
