Holiday spirit
TO EVERYONE who is decorating for the holidays: The lights and the decorations are putting me and several other people I know in the spirit of the year. Thank you to those people down on Kent Street who have both lights and music. If you have not seen that yet, please take the time to see it. It will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit. Merry Christmas.
Good luck
I MISS Doris Roth at Roth Hardware. I've been coming in there for 40 years, so we sort of grew up together. She always listened to my stories and problems. We laughed and cried together. We miss he happy-go-lucky attitude and her smiling face. I'd like to say good luck in her retirement. Remember, you made Roth Hardware what it is today, a successful business.
Wonderful program
THERE WAS an outstanding children's Christmas program Sunday night at New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson. It was wonderful to see all the children singing and sharing the story of our Lord's birth. May all the volunteers who give up their time to work with the children be blessed as much as we were blessed who have watched it. I'm sure God had to be very pleased to feel all the love in that church. Thank you.

Jumping Tigers
LAST WEEK we attended basketball games at Central High School against Eureka. During the halftime of one of the games, the Blanchard Jumping Tigers performed. They did a beautiful job. I wish everybody in Cape Girardeau could see these children perform. They put their heart into what they do, and we should be proud of our future citizens.
Decoration thieves
FOR ABOUT 20 years, I've put decorations out and thought it would give enjoyment to people as they come by. I got paid back for all my hard work and all my money I spent for decorations. They were stolen year after year. Now the house is completely dark, and there's so much relief that I don't have to worry about thieves. I would like to know the number of arrests the police have made of Christmas-decoration thieves. I bet it's few. And the thieves get a slap on the wrist if they're caught.
On-off switch
THE PERSON who said Rush Limbaugh is a conservative thorn and hates his voice should stay away from his great performances.
