LAST NIGHT I was driving home from work northbound on Mount Auburn Road. There was a postman in his little vehicle putting mail into the mailboxes. Wouldn't it have been better for the postman to deliver mail on Mount Auburn during the day instead of at rush hour in the dark?
I'D LIKE to commend the soldier who spoke up to Donald Rumsfeld and asked about the vehicles not having good armor on them. It took a lot of courage for this young soldier to confront someone of Rumsfeld's authority. I hope they do not punish him. He does not deserve that. Our fighting young men and women deserve better than this. People need to start complaining to their politicians and tell them to get the body armor those folks need and to get the troops home.
THE ABANDONED vehicles in Chaffee are on the corner of Black and Second and Parker and Second. There are four houses I am aware of that have tarps for roofs. There are two occupied houses within the first couple of blocks of Chaffee that don't have windows.
THANK YOU for the beautiful flag display in Cape County Park on Dec. 7. I think it was a wonderful display of patriotism. It was just a wonderful sight to see.
IT'S NOT the receptionist's fault you're still waiting to see the doctor. If you want to complain, complain to the doctor, not the receptionist. Patients don't mind unloading on the receptionists, but they won't open their mouth to the doctor.
I WOULD like to send a big thank you to all who visited the Bethlehem Village of Hope at the First Baptist Church in Delta. You made it a huge success. And I'd like to send a special thank you to the Southeast Missourian for the wonderful article on the front page of the paper.
I HAVE complained about the entrance to Cape County Park to the county park superintendent and the conservation department people, but the only way it's going to get fixed is for some big shot's kid to get hurt. That is a dangerous intersection.
I'VE BEEN watching the great professor controversy, and it's pretty funny. The conservatives have a really big problem. It's really hard to deny that, on average, university professors with doctorates are more intelligent, more analytical, better educated and better informed than the average TV-watching, intellectually lazy Republican. But by and large the professors are also dreaded liberals. In the face of the facts, conservatives desperately grasp at ways to deny reality. They attack the professors, mimicking the pompous, irrational vitriol of Hannity, Limbaugh and Will, but they are always haunted by the fact that the most intellectually gifted and developed among us are more likely to be liberal. That's reality.
