BEING a conservative at heart, I want to see candidates run for president who are willing to stand behind their principles, morals and religious beliefs. I want their no to mean no and their yes to mean yes. I want pay as you go, and a detailed plan how they are going to reduce the nation's debt. I want to see politics banned in school and a law that automatically terminates the employment of those who promote their political views upon the students. If religion is not allowed in our school, then the promoting of a political agenda should not be allowed either. It's time that we give back to the parents the God-given right to raise their children in the way parents want to raise them.
DID you know that if you could invent a magic bean that would heat your home, power your car and eliminate the use of fossil fuels that within six months this country would be broke? The economy needs the mining of coal and the drilling for oil to survive. Those trying to curtail their use are trying to break this country. The wealth that comes from the ground and provides millions of jobs is the same wealth that comes when the drillers and miners buy from your stores and eat at your restaurants.
I would like to thank all of Jackson for supporting this year's Festival of Lights. It was an overwhelming turnout. It touches my heart to see all of you support our Girl Scouts and share in this tradition. I would like to give special thanks to two women. Without them I do not see this event being possible. Sarah and Ruth Ann, you did a wonderful job with everything. It was a huge success. Thank you again.
OUR Coach Tom Brown is a wonderful person and always has a story to tell. The reporter captured his personality. Adversities may come and may go, but Coach Brown always keeps his spirits up.
DEMOCRATS in Congress should be ashamed. You are not representing those of us who voted you into office. Stop giving in to Republican demands. They are the minority. We want you to bring all of our troops home regardless of what it means to the Iraqis and Afghans. We want you to stop talking about immigrants being illegal. They are just as much U.S. citizens as you are. And give us our free health care. Give us our entitlements or find another job.
OUR family attended "A Night in Bethlehem" in Delta this past weekend. It was fantastic. Our kids loved seeing the bright "star" in the sky on our way there, and I could feel their excitement as they were asked if they had seen the baby Jesus by the people working in Bethlehem's market. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard. We truly felt like we had stepped back in time and were witnesses to the miracle of Jesus' birth.
