County raises
REGARDING the county commissioners and other county officials giving themselves a raise: That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard of. With the shape the economy is in, this is unreal. When is the next election so we can get some of these people out of there?
Voting for raises
I'M sure every employee in the country would like to vote themselves a raise, but in today's economy, that doesn't seem quite the thing to do. I think it's sad that county officials feel they deserve a raise when even Social Security recipients don't get a raise because of today's economy.

Higher rent
I feel sorry for the people who rent in Cape Girardeau. The upcoming rental inspection fee will raise money for the city while being passed on to you. Wake up, renters. You will pay even higher rent in the future.
Eco-smoking
I was traveling through Cape Girardeau and I saw a guy in one of those little, environment-saving vehicles. I thought it was quite a hoot to see him smoking in it. Save the environment while smoking. How ironic.
