** Gas price

The price of gas in Cape Girardeau is still being kept artificially high. It's $2.55 everywhere else in Southeast Missouri.

** County road

Mr. Cape Girardeau County Commissioner: Where are the graders, mowers, trucks, etc., that would maintain our county roads? I have not seen any of the above all summer. Our county road is in the worse shape I have ever seen it in the 64 years I have lived in Cape Girardeau County. Stop spending all the tax dollars on the one-mile of black top and maintain the other hundreds of miles in the rest of the county.

** Frustrated by mail

My mailman told me the reason that I am receiving my mail late is that management has decided to change the start times for them to pick up their mail, and deliver. I still use the postal system and do not have a computer. My mail has been delivered at 6 and 7 p.m. Please change their start times to whatever it was so I can deposit my checks. Thank you in advance.

I am working on a reference book destined to reach The New York Times best seller list. The tentative title is, "How to Get Your Comment Published in Speak Out."

Benghazi report

A Republican-led report cleared the Obama administration of any shenanigans concerning Benghazi. Finally, the controversy is over.

AG block

Senator Ted Cruz wants to block Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch, thus leaving current Attorney General Eric Holder in the office even longer. I guess I thought Cruz didn't care for Holder but apparently I was wrong.

Abortion, marriage

A lot of our candidates -- and I'm saying most of them -- they say they're pro-life. But what are they doing to stop the abortion? That is something terrible going on in our country today. And God is going to punish us dearly if we don't get this thing stopped. And another thing, same-sex want to get married. God didn't make it like that. He made it man and woman. Them two want to get married? Two women get married; two men get married? That's crazy.sco
