It didn't work

THE 10 things K.P.S. Kamath laid out for the Republicans to do are the 10 things that John McCain tried, and it did not work.

Expensive inauguration

IF president-elect Obama wants to help the economy, he could not have an inauguration celebration. I just heard security alone is going to cost $50 million. If our new president was sincere, he would forgo the big celebration.

Just wait

DEMOCRATS ARE saying Republicans have to change their party and have to become more like the Democrats. Just wait until the first major problem comes up. In six months we'll see if the Democrats are still so popular. Wait until they increase taxes and add more rules. Wealthy people aren't going to allow their money to be taxed like that. They'll move their companies out of the country. Then let's see if poor people give them a job.

Offensive program

PERHAPS THE Southeast Missouri State University theater and dance department will realize that the community wants high-quality, moral and uplifting entertainment when they see the attendance numbers dropping. We bought season tickets every year at the Rose Theatre and the first year at the River Campus -- until, that is, we were offended last fall at the dance concert. On the Marine Corps birthday and over Veterans Day weekend, the performance featured a politically motivated dance that was anti-military, degrading of our commander in chief and extremely disturbing. The performance ruined the rest of the show for us. As a military family, we know firsthand the other side of the story and how much good our military is doing for the Iraqi people. Because of that performance and the fact that so many season tickets were wasted because the content was objectionable, we no longer purchase season tickets.
