Control burning

I live in Jackson. It's another beautiful, sunny Sunday morning. The smell of burning leaves is permeating the air. I want to know why we do not have city ordinances regarding the burning of leaves. We can't sit outside or play with our grandchildren. I have grandchildren who are allergic to burning leaves. Please look into this problem.

Leaving pets

STOP animal neglect. I am sick and tired of irresponsible people who drop off cats at my barn. If you want to do the right thing and don't want to spay and neuter and take care of these animals, take them to the animal shelter.

New faces

TERM limits have brought new faces to Missouri politics, people who are not career politicians. Term limits have not cost taxpayers money. They have saved us money by keeping long-term legislators from giving perks to their cronies. They keep Missouri legislators honest through turnover. I wish we could pass term limits at the federal level.

Big containers

MY mother lives in Cape Girardeau. She's 88 years old. I'm wondering how she's going to manage the new trash containers. She does well to get a bag of trash out to her curb now. I don't live there, so I can't help her. What are people who aren't physically able to do this going to do?

Democrat deficit

WITH the one-year anniversary of Barack Obama's election and three years after Democrats won control of both houses of Congress, the U.S. Department of Treasury reported that the Democrats had the worst fiscal year ever. The federal deficit is the highest amount it has ever been and three times last year's deficit. That's an outstanding record for the Democrats.

Waiting for care

PEOPLE who go to emergency rooms wait hours for treatment. With this health care bill that's been passed, the wait may be a whole day. Imagine an extra 100 people ahead of you.
