God is no warmonger I'M CALLING in regard to the comment that God is with us. How in the world can someone say God is in favor of any kind of war and that he wants us to fight with other people? I know this may be hard to believe, but as wrong as the terrorists were, God created those people just as he created us, and I don't think he's going to get behind defeat of anybody. ...

God is no warmonger

I'M CALLING in regard to the comment that God is with us. How in the world can someone say God is in favor of any kind of war and that he wants us to fight with other people? I know this may be hard to believe, but as wrong as the terrorists were, God created those people just as he created us, and I don't think he's going to get behind defeat of anybody. I don't think he's for war. I think he's for everyone in the world equally, and I don't see how people feel this right to bring God into a political issue or political problem.

Waiting for repairs

THIS SEWER work at the corner of Chestnut and North End Boulevard looks to be about half completed. The workers tore North End Boulevard up and haven't worked down there in almost two months. I would like to know if the city plans on doing something there? This is one of the main thoroughfares for fire station No. 3 to get to the people on Big Bend Road, Main Street and Water Street. This needs to be fixed now. Do not leave this road messed up all winter.

Not enough votes

I'D LIKE to answer to the person who said, "Don't you wish we had Clinton back as president like most people in the country do?" I'd like to point out that most people in the country never wanted Clinton in the first place. In the 1992 election, he carried 43 percent. In the 1996 election, he only got 49 percent. We voted for other people the two times he got elected.

A higher power

IN SPEAK Out, someone wondered why our nation's leaders don't believe in psychics. Our leaders, thank God, put their faith in God Almighty.

Only one right

I'M A little bit afraid to say this because I don't know how some people will take it, but it is the truth. It is impossible to truly believe in anything and accept somebody else's totally opposite belief at the same time. That's what this country does. We've got to make up our minds. We cannot accept everything. If you firmly and thoroughly believe in something, your way is the only way.

Parking scofflaws

SOME SOUTHEAST students insist on parking in handicapped areas without a permit. I have a permit that was signed by my doctor because of severe asthma. I came to school one morning to find handicapped spaces occupied by cars with no permits. This left me with no place to park, and I was late for class. By the time I walked to class I was so out of breath that I had to sit down, making me even later for class. I counted three cars in handicapped spaces with no permits. This inconsiderate lack of respect for those of us who have these permits stinks. From now on I will be checking for permits. If cars don't have one I have every intention of taking down plate numbers and turning them in to the Department of Public Safety. I would also like to see DPS make a rule that these cars be towed instead of just issuing a ticket.

Explain Islam

BECAUSE IT would provide so much added credibility, I implore local members of the Islamic community to explain to area residents that Islam is not a religion of violence.

Keep them separate

KUDOS TO Martha and Robin Kinney. As they stated so eloquently, David Limbaugh is neither a mean nor obnoxious person as a Speak Out caller contended. We must carefully distinguish between David Limbaugh, a wonderful person, and the political philosophy to which he adheres. It could be described accurately as a far right-wing brand of conservatism and one that occasionally flirts with the extremist fringe. At the same time, it is a political philosophy that emphasizes the need to wrap oneself in the flag and more often than not denounces all other views as outside the mainstream and un-American.
