I cannot believe how far we have fallen as a society. When did it become OK for our Congress people to not take the public seriously? They are so far removed from their constituents, they have no idea what the average person is going through. Mark Levin is right; if this country is going to get back to its former glory, we must get those incompetent persons out of Washington, D.C.
I am in favor of reauthorizing the state tax credit for movies made in Missouri as long as a measly two conditions are met. A minimum of 12 movies per year must be made in Cape Girardeau, and I must be in all of them.

The 16-day government shutdown is over, but the country has taken at least a $24 billion hit along the way. The financial ratings agency Standard & Poor's said Wednesday the shutdown "to date has taken $24 billion out of the economy," equaling $1.5 billion a day and "shaved at least 0.6 percent off annualized fourth-quarter 2013 GDP growth." Have you really helped our country?
In addition to being the Hollywood of the Heartland, we can also become the Paris of the Midwest if Cape's city council approves sidewalk cafes.
