Preferred ending
I WOULD rather live as if there was a God and find out in the end there wasn't than live as if there wasn't and find out in the end there is.
SOMEONE STOLE our white, blue-eyed cat on Country Road 614 last year. The Bible says, "Thou shall not steal." It's one of the Ten Commandments. I hope he's happy, and I hope God punishes the person who took him. He was so friendly and a wonderful little pet.
IF YOU think trash is bad in Cape Girardeau now, just wait and see what a no-burn law would mean. Limbs and brush would be on streets and in ditches. Some people don't have a pickup to haul off leaves.
IT'S GETTING very upsetting to pick up the paper day after day and see that another child is in danger from a parent. But this time you can't say it's in the poor part of town. Children deserve much better than this from the adults that are supposed to take care of them.
I WONDER if limiting leaf burning to Monday, Wednesday and Saturday would help this problem? The reason I mention Saturday is because most kids are out of school that day, and a lot of people work five days a week and need Saturday to do yard work and stuff like that. We have to keep in mind there are a lot of old people who don't drive anymore and have no way of getting rid of their leaves. These leaves would pile up and accumulate in the storm sewers, which would be a heck of a problem. I don't know the answer. Maybe this would be a partial solution. It's something to consider.
WHEN SOMEONE says, "Oh, my God," they're not giving glory to God. It's a term used in vain. My mom was always noticing that. Whenever she saw a bad car wreck, she said, "Oh my God." It looked like she was giving glory to God. That's what Christianity is about: learning self-control. Thou shall not commit adultery, thou shall not use the Lord thy God's name in vain, thou shall not steal -- all these things are about self-control. If you were really giving glory, then after the game you would simply say, "God certainly gave him great talent. It was ordained by God" or something of that measure.
REGARDING THE speed limit on Mount Auburn Road: The speed limit is posted, which is how fast you can legally drive. It doesn't mean how fast you must drive. So the person driving 30 mph is not violating a law, and the person driving 45 or 50 mph is violating the law. It's just as much a law as driving in the left lane.
