I would like to say thanks to Bootheel Harley-Davidson for hosting the rock-and-roll church service recently. I talked to the people and they said they had a really good time. Thank you, Harley-Davidson.
I thought it was very good that Gary Rust got the honor that he was given recently.
TEACHERS agree that spelling is a necessary and viable subject, but they no longer have input in what they teach. Students no longer earn their grades in the "new and improved" grading system. There is no incentive to study or work hard since they can take each test numerous times. Jackson is an excellent school district, but when important educational and curriculum changes are made by those who have not been in a classroom for years and the policies are forced on the teachers, it creates frustration for parents, students and teachers.
ATTENTION drivers: When a school bus has its amber/yellow lights on, slow down and prepare to stop. When the bus has its red lights on, stop. They are carrying valuable cargo: our children. Since school has started I have witnessed nine vehicles running the school bus' red flashing lights in the Cape Girardeau area. Maybe local police need to follow the school busses around to catch these people.
AN enterprise zone designation for local economic development is another tiresome phrase for taxpayer subsidies for business, and folks have had it with all types of welfare, including enterprise zones.
I wish ladies would use a little less of their cologne and perfume. I'm allergic to it and when I walk past someone in the grocery store or at church, sometimes it's just enough to gag a maggot. So lay off, ladies.
