Winning president

WHAT has President Obama done to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize? In a few short months, he has ignited an international spirit of cooperation and completely reversed world opinion about the United States. The Nobel Prize is an affirmation, not just for Obama, but for our country. Of course, the GOP spokespeople are following their principle that what is good for the country is bad for their party.

TV clutter

I want my TV screen back. No matter how big a screen you buy nowadays, the networks find out a way to put their logos at the bottom. Now my screen is almost halfway covered with clutter. I want my screen back.

Getting perspective

CONGRATULATIONS, Mr. Celebrity, on your winning of the Nobel Peace Prize. One of your remarks was, "Our children keep us in perspective." Enough already. Mr. President, would you get perspective and put us in perspective, please, and do your job?

Hungry, or starving?

WHY do organizations soliciting food for people that need help always use the word "hungry"? Everybody gets hungry a few times every day. Hunger is not a sign that you need charity. It's a natural process. If someone is starving and losing weight, that is a different story. Hunger alone does not indicate a problem.

No big deal

IT blows your mind that once a year students at an elementary school walk 2 1/2 blocks to school and the news makes a big deal out of it.

President's prize

I think President Obama deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, but a lot of people don't want him to be president. The Lord put him in there. He is in charge, and you have to accept it.

Wildlife concerns

WHERE are the mourning doves? Where are the rabbits? Is the squirrel population as teeming as it could be? Please, let's take care. Let's help the plants and animals in our state.

Worst problems

I believe that global warming and pollution are our most serious problems. I think some of the best minds on the planet should be working on these problems.

Making a mockery

WE have managed to devalue the Nobel Peace Prize. I cannot believe this nonsense. How far will we go to make a mockery of everything? We need to wake up, people.

E-recycling

I would like to commend Cape Girardeau for the e-waste recycling program at Arena Park. I want to tell the city how nice the people were. Everything was organized. It ran smoothly. I was in and out in 10 minutes. And city workers unloaded my items for me. The people were so nice and courteous and friendly. Kudos on a job very well done. Thank you.

Cleaner highways

I'D like to thank those who keep Route W looking nice. I noticed the yellow bags, and it's appreciated. Also thanks to those who clean Highway 177. To all the people who make an effort: Thank you very much. I'm glad you keep volunteerism going.

Lagoon cover

I think the Capaha Park lagoon needs some structure in it for the aquatic life. Some treetops at select places would be great cover for all the fish in the pond.
