Debit-card spender

I WANT to thank the person who stole my daughter's debit card. Thank you for turning our lives upside down. I have so much extra time to go to the police station, fill out a complaint, take off from work to take this to court and to spend my gas on your fun at a dozen stores. I hope it was worth going to jail. I want you to pay the bank back for everything you spent, so lavishly on my bank's money. I hope you enjoy your time behind bars.

Highway hypocrisy

I SAW an interesting thing: a man driving in Jackson in the fast lane going 10 miles under the posted limit with a "Stop road rage" bumper sticker on his back bumper and a radar detector attached to his windshield. It's hypocrisy on so many levels.

College rules

FOR THOSE parents angry at universities, do what my wife and I did. We told each of our kids that we wanted the password to their university e-mail and portal, through which you see everything from grades to charges at the bookstore. We told our kids that if they expect us to write the checks, we must have access to this information, and that if they wanted the privacy afforded adults, they must be adults and pay their own way. Neither of our boys had a problem with this, but if they had we would have stuck to our guns. Stop blaming the universities for following the law and start expecting your child to live up to your rules.

Official preening

EXTRADITING TIM Krajcir to Missouri and putting him through the legal process gives much-needed closure to many of the survivors affected. For that reason alone, it must be done. Unfortunately, an unwanted sideshow to all of this will be the preening and posturing of elected officials who had nothing to do with the work that led to this screwball psychopath's confessions but are seeking more than a smattering of votes for it anyway.

Matter of faith

MY FRIEND, David Limbaugh, will achieve the contentment he so desperately seems to be seeking if only he abandons his quest for empirical proof of the nature of Jesus that conforms to his beliefs and accepts it as a matter of faith.

One-way taxes

ONE WAY for taxes is about right. It's always up. Once a government gets money to spend, it can't do away with taxes, because that would do away with the jobs and programs they spend tax dollars on. And from there it grows and grows. Don't you love being penalized for owning property?
