President Obama

President Obama says that race relations in the U.S. have improved during his six years in the White House. Really? Not only has he had a hand in tearing down race relations by fanning the flame of any racial problem, he has also constantly tried to divide this country by social class. He will certainly go down as the "great divider." But he is still under the flawed mindset that what ever he says, everybody is supposed to not question and believe. Thank goodness the tide is turning on that. You can tell by his lousy approval rating.

Christmas Tournament

Though it still draws crowds who enjoy watching total annihilation, it's far past time to restructure the opening round of the Christmas Tournament.

Elf photo

Wondering how many of your astute readers caught that naughty elf on the shelf on the cover of your Sunday, Dec. 21 edition with an albino deer and a bow?! Loved it! Thanks, Southeast Missourian, for that smile.

Gas price

Why is it that everybody was blaming Obama for high gas prices within the year, and now that the gas prices are low, nobody's blaming him? Why don't we blame him for low gas prices too?

Big Ten

It pains me to admit it, and should be an embarrassment to football pundits everywhere, but the overall best conference in college football this year was the Big Ten.

Fiscal evaluation

Republicans want to change the way the U.S. measures the economic impact of fiscal and tax changes. If implemented, it will destroy our republic.

Cruze, Democrats

Thank you Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz! Your attempt to exploit the Byzantine rules of the U.S. Senate backfired, thus allowing the Dems to push through some lame duck appointments like the new U.S. Surgeon General, a man who correctly concludes that the plethora of guns constitutes a public health menace.

Henniger, politics

The Wall Street Journal's Daniel Henniger recently posited that the current Democratic Party base is made up of the progeny of the Hippies and Yippies of the 1960s. Assuming this is the case, it would seem that Henniger had a duty to also point out that the current Republican Party base consists of the one time disciples of David Duke, George Wallace, George Lincoln Rockwell, and Richard Nixon.

Budget vote

I don't get it. Why was it so difficult. Congressman Jason Smith recently wrote that he had to cast the most difficult vote in his career when he recently voted in favor of the federal government's budget bill. The content of his column then summarized the bill's provisions. I think there all would agree after reading his summary that it was a darn near perfect bill even though he said it wasn't. Maybe he's just modest.

Jeb Bush, Obama

The liberal dems are stating that Jeb Bush has fully embraced the failed economic agenda that benefits only a select few at the expense of the middle class. I wonder, what policy/agenda has been so successful? We have been under the Obama nightmare for six years and it has been a disaster as he takes the Robin Hood approach of taking more and more from those who will work and uses that money to buy votes in expanded government giveaways.

Jeb Bush

I agree with those who have said or written about the possible Republican presidential nomination going to Jeb Bush that the two groups most worried about it are Democrats and conservatives.

Pope and Cuba

Thank you Pope Francis for helping President Obama in expediting the move toward normalizing relations with Cuba!
