Though well written, your recent editorial pointing out that the death penalty in Missouri should not be a partisan issue is based on a faulty premise. It's not a partisan issue. Support for the death penalty in Missouri is widespread and crosses all party affiliations.
It seems silly -- they want to put a police station and jail near a city park? Who does that? Going out Kingshighway, closer to the radio station or that way toward Cape Girardeau, makes more sense.
Don't be so cocky and confident, humans. An estimated 99 percent of species that have ever existed on our planet is now extinct.
What, if anything, is the state or the region doing to help Noranda Aluminum? While I don't usually endorse government subsidization of corporations, I think it's important to do what is necessary to preserve jobs in Southeast Missouri.
