Not stopping; Give them a break; Sinking ship; Enough sacrifice; Which one?; Precious life; Need to be united; Getting in deeper; Boxer's attack; No-stop signs
Not stopping
The police need to do something about cars not stopping at the stop sign at the intersection of Main and William streets near Old St. Vincent's Church. I don't know why the city put a stop sign there in the first place. There has never been one there before. No one sees it, and most of the time no one stops.
Give them a break
I can't believe Democrats are trying to force Congress to work five days a week. That's just too much.
Sinking ship
The Democrats will never win with the people in this area. They've only been in power a few days, and the various letters and Speak Out comments attribute Republican notions, held over from the previous Congress, to them. It's pretty ridiculous. We have diehard, stay-the-course Bush supporters now calling out Democrats for staying the course. If the Democrats were to oppose Bush, they would be derided for being anti-military or soft on terrorism. They can't win. The approval rating for Congress went up after the Democrats came in. Bush's rating has only sunk lower. But I guess Southeast Missouri would rather go down with the ship.
Enough sacrifice
IT WOULD seem our president cares more about a foreign country than his own. By deploying thousands more troops, he is depriving legions of American children of moms and dads. Bring our loved ones home where they belong. We have sacrificed enough American lives.
Which one?
I MET Rush Limbaugh Sr. many years ago. He was a fantastic gentleman. I loved him. But not many people outside Cape Girardeau know about him. If people come to Cape Girardeau and see the Rush Limbaugh Federal Courthouse, they're not going to know that there were two of them. They're going to think we named it after the young Rush Limbaugh. That's something to think about.

Precious life
THERE IS no need for embryonic research since these same stem cells are found in amniotic fluid. Why should we want to destroy embryos, which are the beginning of new life, when it is not necessary? All life is precious.
Need to be united
IF EVERYONE who is complaining about the war in Iraq would pray for peace and justice in the world, this war would be already over. And if the people in Washington would work together to find the solution to all our problems, things would be much better. What ever happened to "United we stand?"
Getting in deeper
PRESIDENT BUSH said he had made his decision and is moving forward. If Congress didn't agree with him, he said, he's still going to step forward. I think the best thing President Bush could do for himself and for this country is step down. He's got us in one heck of a mess. All he's doing is getting us deeper in the hole.
Boxer's attack
I WANT to comment about Barbara Boxer's attack on the secretary of state. Boxer said Condoleezza Rice didn't have any kids so she couldn't say anything about the war effort in Iraq. I'm surprised she would say that about children, because she's pro-abortion. I hate to see somebody with so much blood on her hands act like she cares about someone else's children and someone else's welfare.
No-stop signs
I KEEP reading about people arguing one way or the other on cameras at stoplights. It wouldn't be practical to install cameras at stop signs. But if you want to see people run through a stop sign, come to Jackson and watch motorists coast right through.
