Kudos to police, fire

We witnessed the Cape Girardeau fire/police departments and other local fire departments respond to a home fire in our neighborhood this week. They were truly unbelievable. We are so fortunate to have these professionals serving our community, and we should thank them every time we get a chance. Happy and safe holidays to them all!

Christian country

This is a free country we live in, and yes, with that comes free speech, but we have gone beyond the free speech and gone into stupidity speech and actions when the government allows satanic displays showing burning angels and will not allow nativities in government places. I completely disagree with Obama when he both proudly and shamefully states our great United States is not a Christian nation. We are a Christian nation, and I would love the chance to say that directly to our sorry excuse of a president. I hope in the next election the voters understand what happens when we let a liberal press and Hollywood elitists elect a president!

Change symbols

I would like to see the Republicans get rid of that elephant and put the ant as the symbol of the Republican party, if you could get the Democrats to take the grasshopper. Remember the story of the grasshopper and the ant, where the ant worked all the time and the grasshopper played and wanted to eat what the ants made? This describes the political differences we have in this country. And I think it would help people understand more about their politics. The grasshoppers, they want something free. That would be the Democratic Party, taking away from the ants. The ants working all the time. That sounds like the Republicans.

Smoking problem

Smoking has been reduced to an all-time low of 18 percent. Still, it accounts for one of every five deaths, will take 40 years to halve again and will take the lives of 5.6 million of those who are currently children. We must do better!

Thank you

I would like to thank the couple in the black car that helped me last Saturday at Country Mart, and also the two policemen who were there. I truly, truly appreciate what you've done for me. May God bless you and keep you always. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Progressive agenda

Chins up, progressives. At least we got a few things out of the budget bill. Obamacare remains untouched and immigration as well as climate change rules stay the same.

Stupid comment

Yes, I want to comment about the guy who helped design the health care law, where he said the American people were stupid and had to cover up and had to have less transparency. I know he wasn't talking to me for, No. 1, I didn't vote for Obama, and I'm not for that health care law. So there's only one other group of people he's talking about, and that's the Democrats.
