DO the people of Cape Girardeau realize that when the school board mentioned uniforms for students it was already done? Just go ahead and go out and buy your khakis. They don't know anything about people not having enough money.
I wanted to give my opinion on what I think about the deer control in Cape Girardeau. I think they've got to do something. Those people who are on the committee that liked looking at the deer, that's great, but they must not have had a car hit recently by a deer. You can go through Dennis Scivally Park or go down Cape Rock Drive and four or five of them can dart out at you all the way to Perryville Road.
I think Obama has been doing a fantastic job as president, and I hope he gets re-elected this year. I think he has created more jobs while he has been in office than both Bushes did while they were in office. And as far as the unemployment rate being higher than it was, I think it has only gone up 1 or 2 percent at the most over what he had when he was elected. It was almost 7 percent when Bush was in office for eight years and nobody said anything about that.
I'M sure you've all heard about the giant wells that were dug to service a small part of Cape Girardeau. Millions of dollars of taxpayers' money was spent on a treatment plant and the city taps into our natural water supply? Large cities all over the world function on treatment plants, but a city as small as Cape Girardeau has to abuse our natural resources? Wow, that's sad. That also explains why many people who rely on well water near the Cape Girardeau area were complaining about dirty water periodically coming from their wells. What a mix of greed, selfishness and just plain stupidity.
WHOEVER emerges from the Republican field and wins the nomination for the presidency is a weaker candidate than Alf Landon or, in more recent times, Bob Dole. It's a sad commentary on a party that had a real chance to take the White House.
I remember a few short years ago that when an American citizen would get locked up overseas, in places like Iran or North Korea, and there would be outrage over here because we felt that our citizens should get the same treatment that our once-great country would give its citizens. Not anymore. Thanks to Bush and Obama for not closing Guantánamo Bay, this country no longer has any moral ground to stand on. So sad.
WE could avoid killing the deer if we filled the old federal building with the excess ones and made it into a kind of indoor deer park.
Teachers' dress code
IT'S not only the students that need a new dress code in the Cape public schools; there also needs to be one for the teachers. Been there, seen that.
Poll question
YOUR recently published poll question about cutting the military budget was so loaded it almost exploded right on the page.
WHAT does it mean when someone has aluminum foil covering their windows? It is really tacky looking.
SANTA didn't bring us what we wanted this year. All we asked for was that our neighbor's dogs stop barking all the time. Don't understand why they don't do something about it. It is so inconsiderate to those who live around them.
