In the Southeast Missourian, Jan. 9 paper, in the Our Opinion section, it mentioned that solar power at some point might be a good idea, but they agreed with the city of not getting it. Well, of course they did. The solar panels would have saved the city money down the road. But this city doesn't know how to save. We wholeheartedly agree that it is not necessary to change our clocks twice a year for Daylight Saving Time. So many people in this day and age work jobs with varying shifts. We don't all work 8 to 5, but most of us accomplish what we set our minds to accomplish. It takes planning and commitment. If you want to get yard work done or play outside until dark, guess what? You can do that. Thank you, Miss Kitty and Joe Sullivan. By the way, we never miss a Joe Sullivan article. Thank you very much.

I think it's sad when a person can't vote their conscience, such as Dennis Fowler. I don't see it as a payoff or a payback. I think it's sad that people try to force people to vote along party lines. If Dennis Fowler is qualified for this job, and I'd say he's more than qualified for it, then he certainly should be appointed. The Republicans in this case need to stop acting like spoiled babies.
