Skate park is great idea

I JUST read the article about the Jackson skateboarding park. I think it's a wonderful idea. My son and his friends are excited about it also. I'm excited about it because it will keep them off the streets taking the risk of getting hit by a car or in trouble with the law. I'm wondering if the size is going to be big enough. There are a lot of kids in Jackson who skateboard, and I would bet kids from other towns would come over to use the park too. Will there be someone there at all times watching to make sure no trouble is started and there are no drugs? Maybe someone who owns a concrete business could give a discount or even donate a few ramps in order to keep the kids off the streets and parking lots.

Traffic problems

TO THE person who sent the comment about the poor driving conditions in Cape Girardeau: Thank you. When I get caught in the traffic on William Street, it drives me insane when people stop in the middle of an intersection and stop other directions of traffic. I also have noticed that in front of Doctors Park on Mount Auburn Road that people cause traffic to build up.

OBVIOUSLY, SOUTHEAST Missouri State University is not interested in knowing the opinions of the majority of people on the issue of the mascot. The forums being held are a joke. They are simply propaganda. No mention has been made of hearing the opinions of those who oppose changing the name and their reasoning. Bring back the Indian mascot, and T-shirts will sell like hotcakes.

Now there's time

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI State University president Ken Dobbins said less than a year ago he had more important issues to think about than changing the nickname and mascot. Has he fixed all the financial difficulties? He seems to have time now to press ahead with changing the nickname. Why don't we give the River Campus a nickname instead? "Waste of Money" seems good. If Don Kaverman wants a better way of marketing his sports, he should try to have winning teams.
