More finger-pointing I WAS just curious about Southeast Missouri State University changing its mascot. Why don't we appoint a committee so we can do the same thing they're doing in Washington, trying to place the blame on who did it or who might have stopped it or who did what? It turns out to be a finger-pointing thing. We'll get a committee, and it can look just as stupid as the people in Washington...

More finger-pointing

I WAS just curious about Southeast Missouri State University changing its mascot. Offensive names

I THINK Capaha Park, Shawnee Park, Kiwanis Park and every other place with an Indian name ought to be shut down immediately. I also think Shawnee Parkway is terrible.

Wasting our money

OUR SENATORS are really showing their mettle in their compassion for the American taxpayer by wasting all the money on this 9-11 hearing. They are making a grandstand play before the public and spending taxpayers' money. If they spent half of this effort trying to find out how to reduce pork-barrel spending and wasting taxpayers' money, it would be much more useful.

Taking the credit

IN ANSWER to state Rep. Rod Jetton's quote, "I'm glad the governor took my advice and released the funds for schools," I'm sure Gov. Bob Holden released the funds just because of Jetton.

Broken promises

AFTER READING the article about low voter turnout, I can't imagine why people don't realize what the problem is. It's politicians and the fact that all the talk they do and all the hollering and carrying on they do trying to get elected. Then when they get elected, people find out they've been lied to. Most people who vote probably only vote so they can have a clear conscience in complaining about the condition of politics and the way politicians behave when they get elected instead of hoping that they'll do what they said they're going to do.

Different theories

THIS IS in response to the comment that evolution is more than a theory. I believe evolution doesn't even deserve to called a theory because evolution, by another scientific theory, has been proven wrong: the development of life coming from nothing. Basically that is the basis of the origin of species and the Big Bang. Scientists can't fall back on another theory, because the other theory that makes sense is creationism, and that would mean there is a God.
