Control the crowd

THE TASTE makes money off the cover charge to get in the club. And I am sure that it has soda and juice inside to purchase as well. Give it a chance and let it be. The owner is trying to clean it up. All he needs to do is control the crowd outside. He may need to hire a uniformed security officer to do this effectively.

Caution on attacks

THE PRESIDENT is thinking of letting illegal workers come into the country. He must have forgotten about 9-11. These foreigners could be followers of Osama bin Ladin or some other terrorist group plotting attacks against our country.

Another tea party

WOE BE unto any Cape Girardeau School Board member who votes to violate the board's ironclad commitment not to raise school taxes above the pledged ceiling. You swore not to spend our money twice. If a rollback increase is crammed down our throats, you'll see tea go into the harbor.

Expensive churches

I SEE multimillion-dollar churches being built all over town. Is this the best way to spend the money that God asks of you? If you really want to be a good Christian, why don't you do something more productive with your cash, like helping a real charity instead of paying the church electric bill? Do you really need a building that cost more to build than most schools just to save your soul?

Proper funding

I'VE BEEN a resident of this area for almost 10 years. During that time, I've heard a lot of complaining about both the police and fire departments in Cape Girardeau. That complaining has escalated even as the community prepares to shoot down another attempt to bring in needed capitol to fix the problems. It costs money to equip and train these departments. We can either let the city fall apart, or we can properly fund these departments.

Thanks for the help

I WOULD like to thank the firemen from Cape Girardeau who helped me Christmas Eve when my car broke down on Siemers Drive. They saw I was in trouble and went out of their way to help. It is a very nice feeling to know that there are still such good people out there who care about others. My hat goes off to you guys. I was really distressed, and you did make a difference. I do not know what I would have done without your help. Thank you.
