If all the plans for Southeast Missouri State University come to pass in the next few years, the institution will not only have several new buildings, it also will offer several new programs for what is expected to be a growing enrollment. These plans will no doubt benefit from the shepherding of administrators like Dr. Ken Dobbins, executive vice president at the university, who has decided to stay instead of pursuing other opportunities. He has withdrawn as one of three finalists for a top administrative position with the University of Missouri system.

It is a credit to the caliber of Dobbins' abilities that he was chosen as a finalist in the University of Missouri search for a vice president of finance and administration. Since 1991, when Dobbins came to SEMO, he has guided the university's finances had has been a key player in the development of a new master plan. His command of the university's vision is impressive.

And it is a credit to Dr. Dale Nitzschke, SEMO's president, that Dobbins could be persuaded to stay on as the university constructs a polytechnic building and a center at Sikeston and develops the new River Campus at the recently acquired St. Vincent's College site. Dobbins will play key roles in these efforts as well as many others as the university continues to meet new challenges.
