It's Fair Week, which means it's time to start planning your annual outings for rides, fairway food, entertainment and a visit to see the farm animals and livestock.

The SEMO District Fair is the largest fair in the region. The livestock exhibit entries begin Friday, but the fair's kickoff is the Saturday parade that begins at 9:30 Saturday morning and runs from Capaha Park to the fairgrounds.

There will be a different ride operator, Miller Spectacular Shows, coming this year, which will mean more and new rides for the youngsters to enjoy. Per usual, livestock, competitions and displays will be ongoing throughout the week of the fair.

Last year, some 93,000 people attended the fair. That's a big number.

Entertainment for the week includes a demolition derby; Heartland Barrel racing; a hot-rod truck and tractor pull; the 17th Heartland Idol; contemporary Christian artists Natalie Grant and Citizen Way; modern country artist Granger Smith; and classic country group Diamond Rio.

We encourage you to stop by the fair. Not only is it a fun time for rides, food and livestock, but you're sure to see some familiar faces.
