Asian carp are edible and plentiful, thank God. Some people are aware, finally, that the plentiful Asian carp are edible and a great source of protein.
Hurrah and praise to the couple processing Asian carp on the July 14 front page of the St. Louis Post, at the Big River Fish Headquarters in Pearl, Ill., and to the Department of Natural Resources.
When I was a child growing up in Jefferson City, people had fish fries, using carp out of the Missouri River, and they enjoyed it as a tasty dish -- very flavorful. As common as catfish served nearly every day in today's market.
After being aware of the thousands of Asian carp being killed and poisoned, I couldn't help but to mention to several people my thoughts. What a waste -- and thinking of the many people right here in the good old USA needing fresh fish or food in general (fish being a great source of protein). Why would they kill or poison and waste good fish? Save the carp and let all enjoy it as a meal.
Wake up, Missouri DNR. You who have experienced the flavorful, delicious taste of carp, step up and put your two cents in.
Always having a concern for the people, the Good Lord provides food abundantly and takes care of all.
